On 23 October 2026, the Golf Country Club de Saint-Donat hosted the MERO Cup 2026, a golf tournament organised in association with Mero Retail Consulting, a real estate agency founded by Nicolas Cima and specialising in premium retail locations. The event brought participants together for a day of sport, camaraderie and shared enjoyment.
For the occasion, French artist Laurence Jenkell designed and created the tournament trophies, bringing a distinctive artistic touch to the sporting event. Set in the beautiful green surroundings of the Golf Country Club de Saint-Donat, near Grasse and Cannes, the tournament was played in a two-person scramble format, with teamwork and collective performance at the heart of the competition.
By entrusting Laurence Jenkell with the creation of the MERO Cup trophies, the event brought together two worlds united by shared values: precision, dedication, passion and the pursuit of excellence.
Internationally renowned for her iconic Wrapping Candy sculptures and her distinctive artistic language based on the twisting of materials, Laurence Jenkell has spent more than twenty years exploring the creative possibilities of contemporary sculpture.
For the MERO Cup 2026, the artist brought her creativity to the world of golf, designing bespoke trophies to celebrate the participants' achievements. Beyond their symbolic significance, these creations demonstrate how contemporary art can find its place in unexpected settings, transforming a sporting award into a lasting artistic keepsake. A memorable meeting of art and sport, where contemporary creativity celebrates achievement and gives each award a truly distinctive character.
