Laurence Jenkell, a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters, has spent over twenty years developing a unique body of sculptural work centred on the iconic Bonbon form, created by twisting the material. This form has become the signature of her artistic language. Through these contemporary sculptures, Jenkell explores themes such as collective memory, childhood, popular culture and universal emotion, creating instantly recognisable works.

Creator of the iconic Wrapping Candy

The candy, which has become her founding inspiration, transforms through the artist's research, giving rise to formal variations where material, colour, and light are in constant dialogue. Her pieces come in a variety of sizes and colours and are made from materials such as Plexiglas, marble, polyester, Murano glass, bronze and aluminium.

Laurence Jenkell's works are exhibited in over 50 countries and are included in major private, public and institutional collections, as well as in leading contemporary art galleries. Ranked 430th among the top 1,000 international contemporary artists (2000–2020) with the highest auction sales over the last twenty years, Laurence Jenkell is one of the most visible French artists on the world stage. Wrapping Candy Sculpture
By delving into her personal history, Laurence Jenkell discovered her Proustian madeleine: candies. In the 1990s, she made the bold decision to transform sweets into works of art, giving them a unique sculptural dimension by perfecting the technique of twisting.

This iconic technique has become the hallmark of her work. Since then, she has elevated the act of twisting to create pieces with taut, luminous and vibrant lines that blend design, emotion and collective memory to create a resolutely contemporary aesthetic. She has applied this technique to various collections, including ADN, Papillon, Robot, Monacandy and Ice Candy.

More than just an artistic medium, Laurence Jenkell's Candy has become a universal language capable of reviving collective memory and reconnecting us with our childhood. A true ode to childhood, gluttony, and emotion, the Candy transcends boundaries and has become an enduring part of the contemporary art landscape.
